Styling Sweatpants

I'm sure that all of us have those days when we don't want to get out of bed. The thought of having to leave the warm, comfy mattress and face the world isn't appealing. To make these days easier, I'm going to show you three outfits, styling three different pairs of sweatpants. Sure you can go out in your Hello Kitty pajamas but for those of you who want to look a little bit more put together, here are three, simple outfits.

For the first outfit, I'm going to be styling this pair of sweatpants. It is a heather grey colour and is made out of a very lightweight material. These sweatpants are a little dressier than the average pair because they are a harem style of pant.
Sweatpants - La Senza
For my outfit, I added a dressy top with a detailed neckline. The top gives the outfit an elegant touch and the lace neckline eliminates the need to wear a necklace with the outfit. I added a simple statement watch to finish the look. This is a very girly outfit with the embellished shirt and neon yellow watch adding a feminine touch to the plain sweatpants.

Top - Hollister       Bandeau - Aritizia      Watch - Juicy Couture
My second pair of sweatpants is a darker speckled grey colour with words written on the side of the leg. They are very loose and they tighten around the ankles. This pair of sweatpants is probably what the average person owns and these are my favourite pair.

Sweatpants - PINK
To style, I added a plain white tank top and a chambray shirt. The structure of the button-up dresses the outfit up and combined with the statement necklace, the outfit seems thoughtfully put together when in all reality, you just added simple key pieces to your pajamas. This outfit is very classic, with feminine colours and simple pieces.

Chambray shirt - American Eagle        Necklace - A little boutique
This pair of sweatpants is my most dressy pair. They are skinny sweatpants that have a number on the leg to give the sweatpants a sporty vibe. They have simple white drawstrings and they ruche around the ankle.

Sweatpants - Abercrombie and Fitch
This is my favourite outfit. I added a loose, navy blue t-shirt and a flannel. I knotted the t-shirt up to keep the outfit casual and added a flannel to give the look an edgy vibe. For my accessories, I added metallic bracelets that I stacked to slightly dress up the outfit. This outfit screams edgy and chic.

T-shirt - Abercrombie and Fitch      Flannel - Hollister       Bracelets - A gift
Those are my three looks to dress up sweatpants. They remain very casual but they are more put together than just pajamas. Each look suits a different style and I hope that this has inspired you to create different outfits using your sweatpants. I wouldn't recommend wearing these outfits to a business meeting or anything of that sort but they are stylish enough for most casual events. I added minimum accessories to all three of these looks because during those lazy mornings, no one has time to pick out and wear a number of different necklaces, rings, and bracelets. Stay comfy and chic!

Maleficent Inspired Outfits

Bonjour mes amis! I watched Maleficent in theatres a while back and I was completely mesmerized by the transformation of the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty. The costumes, scenery, and even the original plotline were different from what one would expect. Today I bring to you three outfits inspired by Aurora, Maleficient and Thistlewit, one of the three fairy godmothers. If you haven't watched the movie and do not want any spoilers, I suggest you skip this post and come back after you've watched it.

For my first outfit, I was inspired by this picture of Aurora's outfit. She's wearing a pale blue dress with gold detailing. Her dress is very regal but still remains young and playful. I think it matches her personality perfectly and I love with the colour of the dress and the intricate detailing.

For my outfit, I'm wearing a light blue denim romper with simple, gold accessories. The romper itself is quite plain (and wrinkled) and like Aurora's dress, it gives a sense of youth and daintiness. The simple, gold accessories are a tribute to the gold detailings on Aurora's dress and they complete the look by adding a princessy vibe. This outfit is quite casual and can be worn to outings with friends, a picnic, or a trip to an amusement park.

Romper - Hollister

Necklace - Forever 21

Rings - Forever 21

The next outfit is inspired by this picture of Maleficent. She wears this outfit after she has been betrayed, and instead of the dress made up of light, dainty, layers she wears in the beginning of the movie, she wears an all black, leather outfit. This outfit communicates to the audience the grief Maleficent feels because of the loss of her wings and marks the change in her personality. The outfit is one colour but the feathers on her shoulders add interest and texture. She is also wearing a statement ring and bold, red lips to complete the outfit.

My outfit features a navy blue ruffled shirt and a black highwaisted skirt (if you have a black shirt I recommend you wearing that but my wardrobe lacks the colour). The shirt adds texture to an otherwise plain outfit and the rustic looking necklace and ring give the outfit an aged look. The shape of the statement ring reminds me of ancient Greece and with the addition of the rustic looking metal, it gives the outfit an archaic feel. Combined with the necklace, this outfit screams deadly and mature.

Shirt - Hollister        Skirt - H&M

Ring - Ardenes
Necklace - Ardenes

The next look is inspired by Thistlewit. She is one of the fairies assigned to look after and protect Aurora. In this picture, she is wearing a green and yellow dress. The dress is made out of flower stems and petals and is very soft and delicate. The colours blend together, creating an ombre effect which I love.

For my outfit, I'm wearing green shorts and a yellow shirt to match the colours of Thistlewit's dress. The flower necklace represent the flowers that make up Thistlewit's dress and the winged ring represent her wings. This is the most casual out of the three looks and can be worn on an everyday basis.

Shorts - Abercrombie and Fitch        Shirt - TNA

Necklace - Claires
Ring - Ardenes

And that's it folks! Three outfits for three different characters of the movie. Remember that this isn't supposed to be cosplay or anything like that. I'm simply getting inspiration from the characters and transforming their costumes to something wearable. I have to say that my Maleficent inspired outfit is my favourite. It's edgy and chic. The look is something I would have never thought of but looks very put together and polished. If you have anymore inspired outfits you want me to do, please leave them in the comments.

1 Dress, 3 Different Ways

Hi lovelies! It's been about a week since I last wrote on this blog and I already miss it. Today I bring you three different ways to wear this dress:

The first look is very casual, probably what I would wear on an everyday basis, from hanging out with my friends to grocery shopping with my mom. The key to creating different looks with the same piece is the accessories. I added a loose, grey, open-knit cardigan, with lace detailing on the bottom, a bright neon yellow watch, and layered necklaces. The cardigan I added onto this outfit tones down the dressed up appearance of this garment and is perfect for the chillier summer nights. The statement watch and the delicate necklaces give the outfit more interest.  Just throw on a pair of sandals and you have an outfit that is casual, cool, but still put together.

The second look is the most dressed up. Instead of toning down the professional silhouette of the dress, I enhanced it with the pencil skirt. Adding the pencil skirt over the dress transforms the dress into a classy tee. I added a belt to pull the two pieces together and a simple jewelry piece. The knotted bracelet gives an aura of sophistication without being too in your face. This outfit is perfect for occasions where you have to dress up, like formal dinners, classy parties, and church, but, if you are worried about the bare arms, simply add a blazer.

The third look is sporty and reminiscent of my tom-boy days. I added a varsity jacket and a snapback to the outfit to change the dress from girly and sweet to masculine and relaxed. This outfit is perfect for anyone who isn't completely comfortable wearing a dress. The more tom-boy esque accessories keep the outfit from becoming too delicate and feminine, and the varsity jacket help keep the bright purple colour of the dress from becoming too overwhelming. I kept the look simple by only adding a delicate gold, arrow necklace. This is a very casual outfit and I would wear it with converse to explore new cities or to a ball game.
