Freshman Advice

A lot of you guys are probably starting high school soon which can be scary and nerve-wracking. After reading this blog post, I hope that you guys feel more prepared and ready to take on a new chapter of your life (sorry that was really cheesy).

1. The outfit you wear on the first day of school is the first impression your peers will get of you so make it memorable. I'm not saying that you have to go wear an evening gown decked out in sparkles and sequins but dress nicely. Dress in what makes you feel confident and happy with yourself and most of all, never feel like you have to conform to a certain style. This summer, crop tops and high waisted shorts have been the uniform of girls everywhere but if you don't like it, don't wear it. Fashion is a form of self expression and never let anyone convince you that what you are wearing isn't good enough. I have a whole blog post on what to wear on the first day of school if you need some inspiration.

2. Don't be afraid to talk to people because everyone is just as scared and as uncertain as you are. No matter how popular or how confident a person looks, they all want the same thing as you, to fit in and make friends. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to that cute boy or the girl who's listening to Imagine Dragons. Everyone wants to make friends but a lot of people won't notice you unless you let yourself be heard. This is something I regret because I just stayed in my little bubble and I didn't start making new friends until second semester.

3. Homework, tests, and assignments are still important in high school, no matter what anyone says. Everyone says grade 9 doesn't matter and that you can afford to fool around and still become successful, I disagree. I think that the sooner you build up important habits (studying for a test, handing in all your assignments on time, doing your homework etc.), the better, because the people who don't work in grade 9 are going to have an even harder time passing grade 10.

4. While the academic portion of high school is important, I think that the social part is just as important. Yes school is important, I just highlighted that in my last point but that doesn't mean joining clubs and sports aren't just as important. If you want to join a club, then do it! Don't be afraid of looking dumb or uncool because if it interests you then its good enough. Join sports that you've always wanted to play and have fun! Most of the time, people are too worried about themselves to notice you not being able to shoot a basket. Clubs and sports are the easiest way to meet new people with the same interests as you and expand your friend group.

5. Don't rush into getting a boyfriend or finding love. People usually date during the first few weeks of school and later regret it. Why? because they didn't really know that person. I'm not saying to never date in high school but be careful. Get to know someone before you start dating and make sure that you trust the person and aren't feeling pressured to say yes to a date you don't want. It's your first year of high school, make girl friends that will be there for every Pretty Little Liar marathon, not boyfriends who you forget about the next month.

6. Go to the dances. I'm not talking about only going to major dances like prom and semi, I'm also talking about the random halloween dances that your school holds. Those dances are memories that will last a life time. Grab a group of girlfriends who will dance and get ready with you. Even if the dance is boring, the time you spent with your friends will leave you guys closer than ever. When you get there, try not to worry about your dance technique and how you look, just have fun! Nobody will judge you, they're all too worried about critiquing themselves so go out there and have a blast.

These are just some basic tips that I can offer! I hope that you feel more prepared going into high school after reading this.

Back To School Outfits

 Hola Amigos!

As much as we don't want to admit it, school is coming or for some, has already arrived. To make the transition to school more enjoyable, why not dress up and feel confident? Today I bring to you five different back to school outfits. These outfits feature both shorts and jeans because I know that the weather during this time of year is very bipolar. Please keep in mind that my school has no dress code but I will try to suggest some modifications to the outfits to make them suitable for everyone's dress code.

Outfit #1

T-shirt - Hollister    Shorts - Abercrombie and Fitch    Flannel - Hollister

Bracelets - Niagara Falls (?)

Necklace - Ardenes

Shoes - Converse

This outfit is casual, laidback, and edgy. I paired a simple navy blue v-neck with white high-waisted shorts and a flannel tied around my waist to add color and interest. I kept the jewelry metallic to keep with the edgy theme and added red converse which tied the whole look together. When it gets colder, you can take off the flannel and wear it instead of tying it around your waist. For some modifications, you can add jeans to keep it more modest. This outfit would be perfect for the hotter September days and the flannel could be used in case of cold A/C air. This look is carefree, laid back, with a hint of rebellion.

Outfit #2

Jeans - Hollister    Shirt - PacSun    Cardigan - abercrombie

Hello Kitty Necklace - Gift   Long Necklace - Tiffany's

Shoes - Aldo

This outfit sweet and girly. I paired basic, light wash, cuffed jeans with a top that has lace detailing at the bottom. I threw on a cardigan and neutral sandals to finish the look. I wanted to keep the colour palette simple to keep the outfit feminine and soft. I left the accessories simple by layering two silver necklaces and threw my hair into a ponytail for the girl next door vibe. I love this outfit because it is girly and put together without being overly so. For some modifications, you can wear a longer shirt with lace detailing or wear higher waisted jeans. Overall, this outfit is perfect for those days when you need that extra confidence, without wanting to look like you tried too hard.

Outfit #3

Romper - Abercrombie and Fitch

Necklace - Forever 21

Rings - Forever 21

Sandals - Michael Kors

I channeled my inner wild child for this outfit and as you can tell, she's not very wild. This outfit gives off a bohemian vibe but does so in an understated way. I paired my romper with gold accessories and yellow sandals to keep the look casual and cool. I threw my hair into a braid because let's be honest, no bohemian look is complete without one. I love rompers because they are an outfit by themselves and you don't need to worry about finding a matching clothing piece. I think that the looseness of the romper combined with the three-quarter length sleeves emphasizes the cute-without-trying vibe. This look is perfect for the days when you're running out the door in a rush. For some modifications, you can wear tights underneath the romper and pair it with booties instead.

Outfit #4

Shorts - Hollister   Sweater - Hollister

Bracelet - Tiffany's

Ring - Tiffany's

Necklace - American Eagle

Bow - Ardenes

This outfit screams girly and adorable. I paired pastel soft shorts with a lightweight, cropped, white sweater and a pink bow to finish. For accessories I kept it sweet and simple with a delicate bracelet, a bow ring, and a moon necklace. This is the girliest look in this blog post and I absolutely adore it. It is comfy but chic and screams cutesy with its pastel colour palette. To keep it more modest, you can wear printed pants instead of shorts and pair it a longer sweater or add tights to the shorts and add a tank underneath to hide your stomach. You can wear this outfit for the days you want to look and feel extra pretty.

Outfit #5
Jeans - Hollister    Button Up - Abercrombie and Fitch   Shirt - Abercrombie and Fitch

Earrings - Ardenes

Shoes - Toms

Bangles - Alex and Ani

Rings - Ardenes (?)

This outfit is all about the details. The outfit consists of all basic items but with twists that make them unique. I paired black jeans with a white top with sequin detailing and threw on a button-up with lace on the shoulders. For accessories, I wore a statement ring, silver bangles, and statement earrings. I believe that more than one statement piece can be worn per outfit if they are far enough apart. It's all about balance and in this case, I think it works well. For shoes I wore black Toms and I threw my hair into a messy bun to showcase the earrings and the lace on the shoulders. This outfit is cute but understated which I really love. I don't think this breaks any dress codes so I won't make any modifications. This is for perfect for the days where you need a cute but functional outfit.

That's it! Five outfits that will impress your friends and make you feel confident and comfortable. I know that most of us look at the looming school days with dread but try and be positive. High school only lasts for so long and you should make the best of it. Instead of complaining and moping, make awesome memories with your friends and be happy. Try not to stress too much about the homework and assignments and join clubs and activities. High school will be more fun if you want it to be!

Vacation Outfits

I missed you guys!! I know that I have been gone for way longer than I should've but I have a perfectly logical explanation. I was on vacation! I went to Florida for two weeks and the week coming back was too hectic for me to try and get a blog post up. I know that excuses are really boring to read so if you skimmed through that entire paragraph then please read this: I really am sorry and I will try and blog more xx.

Continuing on, on vacation my family managed to take many pictures so today, I'm going to show you the outfits I wore when I went to Florida. Please keep in mind that I have a limited number of clothing items, shoes, and jewelry. Faces other than my own are blurred out for privacy reasons. I have a mix of casual day outfits and dressy night outfits. I understand that we are moving into the fall weather but this can be used for inspiration and keep in mind that some countries are hot all year round. Enjoy!

For this first outfit, I'm wearing a simple, striped skater dress and yellow sandals. This was my first day on the cruise and I spent the whole day traveling from Canada to Florida. I was tired and I decided to keep it minimalistic. It is a very simple outfit but still cute enough to wear to dinner.
Dress - Abercrombie and Fitch     Sandals - Michael Kors

The second outfit is very casual. I kept it relaxed with a sheer, navy blue top, pink shorts, flip flops and my trusty cross-body bag. The ship docked in Labadee, Haiti so I was going to spend the day exploring the island. This look was perfect for the scorching hot Haitian weather but still cute enough for pictures.
Shirt - Abercrombie and Fitch    Shorts - Abercrombie and Fitch       Bag - Coach    Flip flops - Local Boutique

Underneath that outfit, I was wearing a mesh bikini top with pink bottoms.  It is perfect for tanning and is super cute. It is my favourite bikini right now. Please ignore my shorts tan, I swear it's gone now.
Triangl Bathing Suit

The third outfit was worn out to dinner. I wanted to make up for the first dinner I attended on the cruise, so I went all out. I wore a navy blue dress that flares at the waist, a statement necklace, yellow sandals, and two silver bangles. This outfit is more dressed up than the first one and is very glam. It is elegant but still gives off the summery vibe which I love.
Dress - Abercrombie and Fitch    Necklace - Claires    Sandals - Michael Kors    Bangles - Alex and Ani

The fourth outfit was worn for a day of shopping in Cozumel, Mexico. I brought a tote bag for all my essentials and it was perfect for lugging around all the treasures I found that day. It features a flowy shirt with sequin detailing, denim shorts, a bright yellow watch, a key necklace and my yellow sandals. It was comfy and cool, perfect for that day's adventures.
Tote bag - American Eagle   Shirt - Hollister   Shorts - Abercrombie and Fitch   Watch - Juicy Couture   Necklace - Gift   Shoes - Michael Kors

This outfit was worn to a day in Universal Studios. We had limited time in Orlando so we had to get through the whole theme park in two days. This outfit was a mix of practicality and style. I'm wearing a cropped (ish) shirt with lace detailing, high waisted shorts, pink running shoes, and my ball cap. This outfit was great for running around the theme park but was cute enough for pictures.
Shirt - Pacsun    Shorts - Hollister    Shoes - Nike   Hat - Adidas

This outfit is the fanciest outfit featured in this blog post. I'm wearing a purple, lace dress, a key necklace, and silver shoes. The outfit was perfect for the formal night the cruise hosted and I felt like a princess. The dress is the main piece of the outfit with everything else just accenting it. It is simple yet elegant.
Dress - BCBGeneration     Shoes - The Bay     Necklace - Gift

The last outfit was worn for a day at Clearwater beach. I was just planning to swim so it is very casual. I'm wearing overalls, a bathing suit underneath, and purple flip flops. The overalls were the perfect cover up and you can see the bathing suit peeking through which I love.
Overalls - Brandy Melville    Flip Flops -  Local Boutique
These are some of the outfits I wore to Florida. I hope you enjoyed and I can't wait to start blogging regularly again. I hope you gained some inspiration from this blog post. I still have three weeks of summer so I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible and I hope you will too. If you are already in school than I hope that you are doing well!
